STANDARD VINYL BANNER Is 13oz Scrim Vinyl. Nylon fiber reinforced and very tough. Most common banner material out there. Can be used indoor or outdoors. Excellent print quality with even color laydown and excellent ink retention for high contrast black and vivid colors. Material has a slight waffle texture from the fibers embedded within the vinyl. Can be cut without hems without fraying. Generally hemmed 95 percent of the time for a finished look and additional strength for . HEAVYWEIGHT BLOCKOUT VINYL. Heavyweight banner vinyl is 15oz Blockout Scrim Vinyl. Nylon fiber reinforced and very tough. The blockout means that light cannot penetrate the banner and there the banner is completely opaque. Useful if placing banners back to back in the sun. Additional thickness imparts additional wrinkle resistance but adds weight. Can be used indoor or outdoors. Excellent print quality with even color laydown and excellent ink retention for high contrast black and vivid colors. Material has a slight waffle texture from the fibers embedded within the vinyl. GROMMETS are metal reinforcing rings punched into the banner material. "Standard Grommets" will give you grommets on corners and every 2-3 feet on the horizontal, and 2-4 feet on vertical depending on the size of the banner. Sonama Printing Co. only uses quality nickel plated brass grommets that are made in the USA. No low cost imported grommets to fail or rust. Hems are recommended whenever grommets are used.
HEMS create a finished appearance and also add additional strength and rigidity. Created by stitching are usually approximately 1 inch in width. Recommeded whenever grommets are installed.
POLE POCKETS: Sleeve created by folding and stitching. Useful for hanging banners with a pole instead of using grommets. Helps to straighten end. Also useful for weighting down and keeping straight the lower side of a hanging banner. If you have a specific pole size requirement, please specify in special instructions.
WINDY LOCATION , WINDSLITS Windslits are wind relief cuts placed on the banner. They are spaced approximately every 2 sq ft. Crucial text and graphics are avoided whenever possible but sometimes cutting into text is unavoidable. Windslits will head reduce wind load in certain conditions but may weaken the banner by creating a potential tear source.
